Door Supervisor

Who is this qualification for?

You need a licence if you are responsible for security, protection, screening the suitability of people entering premises or dealing with conflict in pubs, clubs and other licensed premises open to the public.   The licence also allows you to work in Event Security e.g. at the large music festivals and shows around the country.

This nationally recognised qualification meets industry standard requirements and enables a Door Supervisor to apply to the Security Industry Authority (SIA) for a licence to practise.

  • Unit 1 – Working in the Private Security Industry
  • Unit 2 – Working as a Door Supervisor
  • Unit 3 – Conflict Management for the Private Security Industry
  • Unit 4 – Physical Intervention Skills for the Private Security Industry
How is the Door Supervision course assessed?

This award is delivered over 4 days and assessed by three multiple choice exams.  Unit 4 is internally assessed, and involves a mix of demonstration of practical skills and knowledge assessment.

Identification

You will be asked to bring along Identification documents  (drivers licence or passport) and 2 forms of proof of address (utility bill, bank statement etc) along with 3 passport size pictures.

Applying for the SIA Door Supervisor licence

On receipt of your successful exam results, submit your licence application form to the SIA.  We are usually able to provide application forms and will guidance on completing it.

The SIA to application process takes about 6 weeks. Delays are usually caused by:-

  • not completing the form correctly,
  • sending insufficient/incorrect,
  • payment not being made by your bank identification and
  • criminality issues.
